Thanks to Environment Agency funding, a new analyser has been purchased and will soon be installed in the Lugg catchment. The equipment will measure phosphate levels in the Frome, a Lugg tributary that joins just upstream of Mordiford.

The equipment will take water samples every 30 minutes, measuring both ortho and total phosphate. It is hoped that the data collected will enable work to be targeted further upstream to reduce phosphate levels in the Frome, a river that is known to be contributing to overall Wye’s levels.

The results will be uploaded to the Wye Catchment Partnership website and viewable by all.

The Partnership is grateful to the Environment Agency for their help in this project.
